Dr. V. Ashok Kumar is a Post-Doctoral Research Scientist in Department of Aeronautics at National Cheng Kung University, Taiwan. He has 10 years of research experience in microalgae large-scale cultivation for biofuels and high value-added bioproducts. During these years I have extensively worked on 1.Botryococcus sp., chlorella, Nanochloropsis Tetraselmis sp. Scenedesmus sp., etc., for a biorefinery in producing biofuels, EPA, and wastewater treatment technology 2. Dunaliella sp., Haematococcus sp., Spirulina sp., for high value-added bio-products ( β-carotene, Astaxanthin, and phycocyanin etc. He has experience in the cultivation of the above-mentioned microalgae in the low-cost Open raceway pond (500 m2 i.e, 100,000 Liter capacity pond and Vertical tubular photobioreactor (VT-PBR) which designed using polyethylene plastic. Also, worked in a closed system using Biocoils – a novel mathematically designed helical photobioreactors. In addition, he has teaching experience and handled Life Sciences/environmental and energy subjects for undergraduate and postgraduates students. And co-supervised for many Ph.D. research students.
