Research: Dr. Hu Li research interest focus on fault /fracture analysis and, rock mechanics, Carbon Capture, and Storage.

Dr. Amir Hossein Hamidian is a faculty member in the Department of Environmental Science and Engineering at the Faculty of Natural Resources, University College of Agriculture & Natural Resources, University of Tehran, Iran. He earned his Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from the University of Otago, Dunedin, New Zealand in 2009. He also holds an M.Sc. in Natural Resources Engineering – Environment (2000) and a B.Sc. in Natural Resources Engineering – Environment (1998), both from the University of Tehran, Iran. Dr. Hamidian’s research focuses on environmental science and engineering, particularly in sustainable management and conservation of natural resources.

Dr. Juan José Alava is both a marine eco-toxicologist and an environmental scientist and conservation biologist, working as a Researcher at the Institute for the Oceans and Fisheries (IOF), University of British Columbia (UBC). He is also a Research Scientist at the Ocean Pollution Research Program (OPRP), Ocean Wise/Vancouver Aquarium Marine Science Centre’s Coastal Ocean Research Institute (CORI). Dr. Alava serves as an Adjunct Professor at the School of Resource and Environmental Management (Faculty of Environment), Simon Fraser University (SFU). His research interests are broad and include environmental toxicology and marine ecotoxicology; food web-bioaccumulation modeling of pollutants and climate change; marine mammals; sea turtles; seabirds; fisheries science and management, climate change, environmental impact and risk assessments, conservation biology; tropical biodiversity and parasitology. Alava holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Universidad de Guayaquil (Ecuador), and a Master of Earth and Environmental Resource Management from the University of South Carolina, Columbia, USA (Fulbright Scholarship, 2002-2004). He obtained his Ph.D. from SFU. He was as a sessional instructor in both SFU and Royal Roads University teaching diverse courses. He is also a collaborating scientist of the Charles Darwin Foundation for the Galapagos Islands and the current Science Director (honorary) of the Ecuadorian Foundation for the Study of Marine Mammals. Alava was also a research associate with the Institute of Ocean Sciences, DFO, Canada. He has published about 65 peer-reviewed publications and was selected as an active member of the Academia of Sciences of Ecuador in 2014. 

Research: Dr. Juan Jose Alava research interests are in Environmental toxicology and chemistry; marine ecotoxicology, food web-bioaccumulation modeling of pollutants (Bioaccumulation Science), sea turtles and marine mammals’ eco-toxicology; marine ecology, conservation biology, tropical biodiversity and ecology, fishery science and management, fisheries reconstruction, impact of climate change in marine organisms and fisheries, population dynamics and conservation of marine mammals, biology and conservation of marine mammals, birds and sea turtles; field ornithology; aquatic microbiology; eco-toxicological risk assessment; environmental impact assessments and environmental policy, public health, tropical parasitology and environmental/conservation medicine.

Dr. Sanjay Kumar Shukla is an internationally recognized expert in the field of Civil (Geotechnical) Engineering, He is the Founding Editor-in-Chief of International Journal of Geosynthetics and Ground Engineering. He is also the Program Leader in Civil and Environmental Engineering at Edith Cowan University, Perth, Australia. He holds adjunct/distinguished professorship in civil engineering at four international universities. His research interests include geosynthetics, ground improvement, etc. He is an author of 10 books, and more than 175 research papers. He is a fellow of Engineers Australia and several other professional bodies. He serves on the editorial boards of several international journals.

Professor Prashant Kumar is Chair of Air Quality and Health and the founding Director of the GCARE (www.surrey.ac.uk/gcare) at the University of Surrey, UK.  He has a Ph.D. (Engineering) from the University of Cambridge, and an MTech (Environmental Engineering & Management) from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi. His research builds an understanding of the formation and emission of particles, both from vehicle exhausts and non-vehicular sources. He investigates their contribution to pollution, especially in megacity contexts. He is developing approaches to low-cost sensing and contributing to the development of exposure control technology and guidelines for policymakers to curtail pollution exposure in cities, with associated health benefits. With over 130 articles in top-ranked journals (h-index, 32; i10 index, 72; citations, 3,200; as on 31/11/2017), his research has secured over £3.5million of individual funding for 27 research projects funded by the RCUK, industry and international funding bodies. He has developed a network of collaborators across four continents, serving on editorial boards of international journals and scientific evaluation panels of numerous funding agencies. He is advising national/international agencies on air pollution and urban nexus and his research have featured in well-read media outlets such as the BBC and The Times.

Dr. Adolfo Antonio Gutiérrez is a Professor at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and IML of the National University of Tucumán, Argentina.He taught courses and lectures related to Economic Geology, Mineral Prospecting, Cartography, Geotectonics, Photointerpretation. He is director of the doctorate in Natural Risks and Field Geological Studies (National University of Tucumán, Argentina and University of Potsdam, Germany). He was director of research projects related to tectonics, mega-geomorphology, mineral deposits, geochemistry of primary and secondary environments and impact structures, among others. Publications in journals and congresses have 41, of which 22 are of their authorship.   

Dr. Miklas Scholz, cand ing, BEng (equiv), PgC, MSc, PhD, CWEM, CEnv, CSci, CEng, FHEA, FIEMA, FCIWEM, FICE, Fellow of IWA, is Prof. in Water Resources Engineering at Lund University, Sweden. He also holds the Chair in Civil Engineering at The University of Salford, UK. He is the Head of the Civil Engineering Research Group in Salford. Prof. Scholz has shown individual excellence evidenced by world-leading publications, postgraduate supervision and research impact. His main research areas in terms of publication output are as follow: treatment wetlands, integrated constructed wetlands (ICW), sustainable flood retention basins (SFRB), permeable pavement systems, decision support systems, ponds and capillary suction time. About 48% and 46% of his research is in wastewater treatment and water resources management, respectively. The remaining 6% are in capillary processes and water treatment. He has published three books and 209 journal articles. Prof. Scholz’s full journal article publications in recent years are as follows: 2009 (13), 2010 (19), 2011 (13), 2012 (21), 2013 (17), 2014 (15), 2015 (17), 2016 (14) and 2017 (16). Prof. Scholz has total citations of more than 4311 (above 2895 citations since 2012), resulting in an h-index of 32 and an i10-Index of 101 (22 August 2017).

Dr. Nabil Zouari is Full-Professor of Biology and Environmental Microbiology. He obtained his Ph.D. degree in Microbiology, Enzyme Engineering & Bioconversion from the University of Technology of Compiègne (UTC, France). Dr. Nabil is also engineered in biological engineering. He has 33 years of experience in Teaching and Research & Development in the fields of Environmental Technology, Enzyme Engineering, Industrial Microbiology and transfer of technology in France, Tunisia and Qatar. Dr. Nabil published more than 52 papers in international indexed journals, covering all his fields of specialization. He developed 6 industrial applications in the field of agro-industry. He has an experience of ten years in the field of results development and valorization and incubation of innovations ( in France and Tunisia) and created one start-up in the field of biotechnology. He has experience in leading and directing research projects, UG and graduate research supervision (dozens of theses) and graduate studies coordination as well.

Research: Dr. Nabil Zouari's research interests are in Isolation and use of microorganisms or their metabolites as biological activities in industrial and environmental applications. Study of the relationship between cell metabolism and biological activities (cell factory) at aerobic, anaerobic and microaerobic conditions. Overproduction of low-cost biological activities in media and appropriate fermentation technologies. Development of bioprocesses based on enzymes or microorganisms in the conversion of industrial interest. Development of industrial bioprocesses for bioremediation of wastewaters and polluted soil.

Dr. Xujie Lu is a professor in School of tropical eco-environment protection at Hainan tropical Ocean University, China. He has a number of publications in his name. Dr. Xujie Lu research interests are in Wastewater treatment and reuse, Membrane technology, Disposal of residual sludge and solid wastes, Catalysts, and Treatment of leachate.      

Dr. hab. Mariusz Cycoń is currently working as Assistant Professor in the Department of Microbiology and Virology affiliated to School of Pharmacy with the Division of Laboratory Medicine at the Medical University of Silesia, Poland. He acquired his Ph.D. hab. in Biological Sciences - Environmental Microbiology at the University of Silesia, Poland in February 2014, Ph.D. in Medical Sciences - Medical Biology at the Medical University of Silesia, Poland in December 2006 and MSc in Biology - Biotechnology of Plants and Microorganisms at the University of Silesia, Poland in July 2006. Dr hab. Cycoń has experience in different areas of modern environmental microbiology and biotechnology, to name a few: degradation of the organic compounds, bioremediation processes, microbial community structure of contaminated soils, optimization of degradation processes of chemicals, etc. He has so far published more than 30 research articles in national and international peer-reviewed journals (e.g. Frontiers in Microbiology, Chemosphere, Applied Soil Ecology, Journal of Environmental Management, International Biodeterioration & Biodegradation, Journal of Environmental Sciences, Ecotoxicology). Dr hab. Cycoń is a member of the editorial board of 17 journals (e.g. Applied Soil Ecology, Frontiers in Microbiology, Frontiers in Environmental Science, Frontiers in Environmental Microbiology). He has so far reviewed more than 400 articles for 75 high-rated journals (e.g. Journal of Hazardous Materials, Bioresource Technology, Chemosphere, PLoS ONE, Journal of Environmental Management, Applied Microbiology and Biotechnology, Environmental Science and Pollution Research, Applied Soil Ecology, Biodegradation, Ecotoxicology). 

Research: Dr. Mariusz Cycon's research interests are in environmental microbiology; environmental biotechnology; microbial activity, diversity and community structure of soils contaminated with organic pollutants (pesticides, antibiotics, NSAIDs); microbial degradation of organic pollutants; bioremediation of contaminated soils; antibiotic-resistant microorganisms.

Dr. Agnieszka Alicja Karczmarczyk is an Assistant professor at the Department of Environmental Improvement, Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Warsaw University of Life Sciences, Poland. She authored or co-authored 53 scientific papers published in journals, 11 book chapters or conference proceedings and 8 popularizing articles. Scientific papers were published in international journals. She acts a reviewer for various international journals.

Dr. Giuseppe Oliveto was born in Potenza, Italy, in 1963. He received his degree (summa cum laude) in hydraulic engineering from the University of Basilicata, Italy, in 1992, and the Ph.D. degree from the University of Naples, Italy, in 1997. Presently, he works as Associate Professor at University of Basilicata. His principal research topics encompass geomorphology and hydrological response of river networks, bridge hydraulics, fluvial sediment transport, and urban drainage hydraulics.

Dr. Mohamed M. El Alfy is currently working as an Associate Professor of Hydrogeology, Prince Sultan Institute For Environment, Water and Desert Research, King Saud University. Prior to that he worked as Assistant Professor of Hydrogeology, Geology and Geophysics Department, King Saud University. He is a member of International Association of Hydrogeologists (IAH), Egyptian Geological Society (EGS) and Quaternary Egyptian Society (QES). He authored a number of publications on his name. 

Research: Dr. Mohamed M. El Alfy's interests are in Hydrogeology, Hydrology, GIS, and Remote Sensing, Aqueous Geochemistry, Hydrochemical Modelling, Groundwater Pollution, Soil Contamination, Groundwater Modelling.

Dr. Yunus Dogan is a professor in Ecology at Dokuz Eylul University at Buca Faculty of Education. He is a graduate at Ege University (1989), earned master degree in Plant Ecology at Dokuz Eylul University (1994), and Ph.D. in Plant Ecology at Dokuz Eylul University (1999) in Izmir, Turkey. His major research areas are based on Plant Ecology and Ethnobotany, acting on the following subjects: edaphic factors, soil-plant relations, heavy metals, biomonitoring, ethnobiology, medicinal plants, wild edible plants, ethnology of Balkan minorities as well as environmental education etc. He is a member of the editorial board many international journals like Indian Journal of Traditional Knowledge, Emirates Journal of Food and Agriculture, The Open Plant Science Journal, Bulletin of the Faculty of Forestry University of Belgrade, Mediterranean Journal of Biosciences, Austin Food Sciences, The IAFOR Journal of Sustainability, Energy & the Environment, Insights of Forest Research, Annals of Nutritional Food and Current Research, Journal of Medicinal Botany, Digital Chinese Medicine, Journal of Basic and Applied Plant Science, Journal of Advances in Education and Philosophy, etc., and referee of more than forty international and national journals and external thesis reviewer of some Pakistan and South African Universities.

Dr. Hasan Sarptaş is an Assistant Professor at Ege University Solar Energy Institute, Turkey. He was a Research Associate at Dokuz Eylül University Engineering Faculty Environmental Engineering Department, İzmir, Turkey. He did his Ph.D. from Dokuz Eylül University, Graduate School of Natural & Applied Sci., Environmental Technology Program. He has professional membership in International Association of Hydrological Sciences (IAHS), Turkish National Committee on Solid Waste (KAKAD) and TMMOB Chamber of Environmental Engineers.

Dr. S. Vasudevan is a Principal Scientist & Professor (AcSIR) in Electroinorganic Chemicals Division at CSIR-Central Electrochemical Research Institute, India. He obtained his Ph.D. in Industrial Chemistry – Electrochemistry from Alagappa University Karaikudi, India. He received Award for Excellence in Research by EET CRS 2nd Academic Brand Awards, Bharat Shiksha Ratan Award by Global Society for Health & Educational Growth (2016), and many more. He was involved in several national projects. He is serving as an Editor for the highly reputable journals.

Research: Dr. S. Vasudevan is working in diverse areas of electrochemistry for the past 20 years. His research primarily focused on the areas of chemical and electrochemical water treatment, electrochemical and photo-electrochemical generation of hydrogen, synthesis of electroinorganic chemicals, electrochemical waste management, electrocatalysis, magnesium batteries.

Dr. Antoine Trzcinski graduated with a Bachelor degree in engineering and Master degree in chemical engineering from the University of Louvain-la-Neuve in Belgium in 2005 and in 2009 he has been awarded a Ph.D. from the chemical engineering Department of Imperial College London in the United Kingdom. During his PhD, he developed a novel process for producing biogas from municipal solid waste and for the treatment of landfill leachate. He gained practical experience in aerobic and anaerobic processes including membrane bioreactors, carbon and nitrogen removal, wastewater and organic solid waste treatment. In 2009 he carried out research and development at pilot scale on the production of value-added products from algae at Manchester University. He gained experience in designing a plant for various projects (mass & energy balance, unit sizing, and economics) in a biorefinery context in collaboration with Shell. He worked extensively on liquid and solid state fermentation processes using biomass such as sugarcane bagasse, rapeseed meal, coffee waste, waste glycerol, wheat bran and soybean residues for the production of sugars, ethanol, enzymes, and biodiesel using integrated biorefinery concepts.  He joined Nanyang Technological University in 2011 as a Senior Research Fellow in the Nanyang Environment & Water Research Institute and continued working on solid waste treatment such as waste activated sludge and wastewater treatment in anaerobic membrane bioreactors. In particular, he developed novel combinations of pre-treatment of waste activated sludge that result in greater biogas production. He generated 3 patents from this work in collaboration with the Public Utilities Board of Singapore. He was also actively involved in the preparation of pilot and full-scale anaerobic digestion projects involving municipal solid waste, food waste and waste activated sludge with governmental agencies and private companies. His long-term vision is to transform the conventional waste activated sludge process into its anaerobic counterpart which would result in an energy factory with significantly lower sludge production. To prove the concept in 2014 he managed to secure a grant from the Ministry of Education that is looking at the concurrent carbon and nitrogen removal with biogas production in membrane bioreactors. His interests also include fouling mitigation in membrane bioreactors, characterization of soluble microbial products, identification of bacterial and archaeal strains, pharmaceutical and antibiotics removal from wastewater, the fate of nanoparticles in the environment and bio electrostimulation of microbes to improve bioprocesses through interspecies electron transfer (IET). In 2016, He joined the University of Southern Queensland as a lecturer and teaches Environmental engineering, Environmental Engineering Practice, Hydraulics, Solid and Liquid Waste Treatment and Applied Chemistry and Microbiology as well as continuing his research in these fields.

Dr. Adriana Estokova is a Head of Department of Material Engineering, Faculty of Civil Engineering, Institute of Environmental Engineering at the Technical University of Kosice Slovakia. Prior to that, he worked as a professor and associate professor Environmental Engineering, Technical University of Košice. He authored 8 university textbooks and 3 monographs in the field of environmental engineering. Author of 2 chapters in the foreigner monographs, lead editor and guest of books and journal´s special issues, author and co-author of more than 300 scientific publications including 66 publications in Web of Science and 80 publications in Scopus databases.

Dr. Bhanu Prakash Mishra is a Professor in Department of Environmental Science, Mizoram University, Aizawl, India. He is a member of different university boards. He authored a number article and books. He is serving as an Editor at different reputable journals.

Dr. Işil Arslan Topal is an Assistant Professor in Faculty of Engineering at Department of Environmental Engineering, Firat University, Turkey. She authored a number of articles. She was invited speaker at various national and international conferences.

Dr. Akan is a research assistant and also Ph.D. student at Department of Environmental Engineering, Hacettepe University, Ankara/Turkey. Ms. Akan graduated from Environmental Engineering Department, Trakya University, Edirne/Turkey in 2008. She has two master’s degree. She took first master’s degree from Bogazici University, Institute of Environmental Sciences, Istanbul/Turkey in 2014 and she took second master’s degree from Hacettepe University, Department of Industrial Engineering, Quality and Conformity Assessment Engineering in 2016. Her research areas are advanced oxidation processes, adsorption, air pollution control, membrane technology, gas separation membranes, CO2 capture and storage, ISO 17025, occupational health and safety, industrial symbiosis. 

Dr. R Manivanan is a Scientist 'B', Central Water and Power Research Station, Pune, India. He has twenty-six years of experience in working various organizations, which includes research and academic positions in India. Having a wide experience in mathematical modeling and simulation of riverine, estuarine and reservoir flow dynamics (hydrodynamics), salinity intrusion, sediment transport, morphological changes and other transport process pertaining to coastal and environmental engineering problems. Also having experience in a field visit, data collection, analysis of the problem, development of software and carrying out collaborative work.

Research: Dr. R Manivanan's research interests include Modelling of Water Resource Problems. Mathematical Modelling of Engineering problems, Water Quality Modelling, Scientific Computation, Recycling of Industrial Effluents. 

Dr. Kaveh Ostad-Ali-Askari is a Ph.D. of civil engineering, Department of Water Resources Engineering, Faculty of Civil Engineering. His topics of interest include Groundwater Hydrology, Irrigation and Drainage Engineering, Sustainable Development and Environmental Assessment, Climate and Integrated and Sustainable Water Resource Management, Water System Engineering, Water Resources Planning, Artificial Neural Network, and Genetic Algorithm. He has contributed to more than 125 publications in Journals, Books, and Technical Reports. He collaborates as Editorial Board Membership in more than 45 Journals and as reviewers in more than 30 Journals. Currently, he is a Faculty Member of the Department of Civil Engineering, Isfahan (Khorasgan) Branch, Islamic Azad University, Iran. He is Editor-in-Chief of International Journal of Rural Development, Environment and Health Research (IJREH) and Associate Editorial Board Membership of International Journal of Environmental Sciences & Natural Resources (IJESNR) and Civil Engineering Research Journal (CERJ), Juniper Publishers. He was a Visiting Assistant Professor at Canadian University Dubai (CUD), Dubai, UAE, and American University in Dubai (AUD), UAE. On the research side, he started a research partnership in May 2017 with Concordia University in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

Dr. Ahmed Ibrahim Osman Ahmed obtained his Ph.D. at Queen’s University Belfast. Prior to that, he was working as an academic teaching assistant staff in Chemistry department, Faculty of Science, South Valley University-Qena Egypt. 

Dr. Sajjad Pourmozaffar is an Assistant professor of Aquaculture and fishery science. He received my Ph.D. degree from the Gorgan University of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources, Iran. He is a reviewer for 17 scientific journals. His scientific interests focus on nutritional physiology, microbiology, Aquatic Toxicology, Marine Pollution, Marine Biology, Immunology, disease, genomic and transcriptomic analysis of aquatic species such as crustacean, fish and etc.  

Dr. Andrés Rodríguez Seijo, Ph.D. since 2016 (by the Universidade de Vigo) in the area of Soil Science had a Licenciatura (equivalent to BSc+MSc) in Biology in 2012, and a Master’s at Terrestrial Ecosystems, Sustainable Use and Environmental Implications in 2013, both by the same University. His expertise was focused on the behaviour of lead and potentially toxic elements on mine, urban and shooting ranges soils, and their study through several techniques: soil extractions, phytoremediation strategies, application of lead isotopes as tracers, TOF-SIMS analyses to know the behaviour with soil components, use of nanoparticles to reduce available contents and application of ecotoxicological techniques. Also, he began to work with microplastics, and with several peer-reviewed publications. He’s author/co-author of 15 articles in SCI journals (h index of 5), four book chapters and 22 communications to national and international conferences. He was the co-supervisor of 2 MSc students, participated in three local, regional and European projects, and also acts a reviewer of 15 SCI journals.
