Dr. Eugene Kim is Associate Professor of Surgery, Division of Pediatric Surgery in the Department of Surgery at the University of Southern California Keck School Of Medicine in Los Angeles, California. He has clinical expertise in pediatric surgical oncology, the management of chest wall deformities and anorectal malformations. He also has expertise in extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) as it relates to newborn pulmonary and cardiac failure.
Dr. Kim is the principal investigator of a basic science laboratory focused on novel preclinical therapeutics for the aggressive childhood malignancy, neuroblastoma. His research interests are focused on the development and discovery of new anti-angiogenic pathways and therapies for neuroblastoma. Specifically, Dr. Kim has expertise in VEGF biology in neuroblastoma as it relates to tumor angiogenesis. In addition, Kim’s lab is investigating a novel cancer stem cell population in neuroblastoma and its role in tumor recurrence.
